This study investigates the relationship between knowledge of waste oil recycling processes and environmental awareness among employees working in the industrial waste oil recovery sector. A survey comprising 74 items across five sections was administered to 150 workers employed in licensed waste oil recovery facilities. The instrument included the Waste Oil Recycling Process Knowledge Test, the Environmental Knowledge Scale, the Environmental Emotion Scale, and the Environmental Behavior Scale. Results showed that 78% of participants scored at or above the Waste Oil Recycling Process Knowledge Test’s mean. These scores were moderately and positively correlated with Environmental Knowledge, Emotion and Behavior scores (p < .05). Participants with prior environmental training had significantly higher Waste Oil Recycling Process Knowledge, Environmental Emotion and Behavior scores than those without training (p < .01). These findings highlight the critical role of informal environmental education in enhancing both knowledge and pro-environmental attitudes and behaviors among workers in waste oil recovery. Expanding such training programs could strengthen environmental protection practices and contribute to more sustainable waste oil management.
